This year has become one of the most musically exciting years for us fellow music enthusiasts, and Lana Del Rey did not want to miss out. Lana Del Rey released her fourth album Lust For Life. This album is proving that Lana Del Rey does not just sing about the dark times but also the great moments in life.
From the first single off Lust For Life, we knew Lana was going to serve us more of her talent. The mood of this album is a lot different from her other albums but still very consistent to her aesthetic. Lust For Life has an up beat tempo with a great fusion of hip hop beats. Not to mention Lust For Life has killer collaborations with the Weekend, ASAP Rocky and Stevie Nicks.
I give this Lust for Life a four out of five stars.
There is something about Lana’s breathy voice that just knows how to whisper her way into your heart. Lust For Life has to be one of my second favorite album from Lana. Only second because let us admit that Born To Die was a masterpiece. I loved the more upbeat tempos and the not so dark lyrics that we are so used to hearing from her. My favorite songs from this album so far are “love”, “Lust for Life”, Summer Bummer, Groupie Love and Beautiful People Beautiful problems. My favorite songs off this album will eventually change with my mood. I cannot wait to see this album win a Grammy.

HAIM is proving why they are the iconic girl trio.
Earlier this month on July 7th to be exact HAIM blessed us with their second album Something To Tell You. This album was one of the albums that I never thought I need, but now I require to function properly. It’s equal to not knowing how good avocados are then finally having one and now not being able to live without eating one each day.
Something to appreciate from Something To Tell You is its similar sound to their first album called Days Are Gone. I appreciate the fact that they did not change their entire style from their original album like some bands that do. I fell in love with HAIM’s unique sound and melodies. That is what keeps me coming back for more.
Something To Tell You is that able you listen to when you still have feelings for a past lover. This album takes you on the rollercoaster ride of feels. Something To You start off you with wanting to return to your past love and ends with you finally realizing it is better to say goodbye.
Overall I would give Something To TellYou a four and a half stars out five stars.
As I had mentioned, I had not been expecting this album, but I am sure glad to have it. Something To Tell You makes me feel like I want to get back with the ex I never had. I adore the vibe this album gives. You can hear HAIM’s classic rock-n-roll inspirations that you do not hear in mainstream music. Not to mention their vocals are killer.
I could picture myself with cool vintage clothing at a local coffee shop bopping my head to this album. The only thing I dislike is the fact that I do not live anywhere near where they are touring and the fact I did not see them when they were touring with Taylor Swift. My favorite songs from this album have to be “Little of Your Love,” “Want You Back,” “Walking Away,” and “Something To Tell You.” However, this will probably change over my emotions.
Bonus my favorite lyrics from each song from Something To Tell You.
Want You Back- “I’ll give you all the love I never gave before I left you.”
Nothing’s Wrong- “Heartbreak by design.”
Little of Your Love – “You gotta give me just a little of your love, baby. And I’ll try.”
Ready For You- “Maybe you played way too hard to get. So I kept it moving to another one night stand.”
Something to Tell You – “Because I know if I tell you that everything’s alright. Oh, we could stay at this moment, I’d never say goodbye.”
You Never Knew – “Was my love too much for you to take? I guess you never knew what was good for you.”
Kept Me Crying – “Kept me crying for so long, my tears have dried.”
Found It In Silence – “Something else on your mind all this time. I was right, wasn’t I?”
Walking Away – “I know you did it so many times before. But I never thought I’d be the one you’d betray.”
Right Now – “You left me searching for a reason. Why’d you leave? Left me in the dust.”
Night So Long – “And I say goodbye to love once more.”
I realized that maybe I should have done this post from the beginning, but you know what life isn’t perfect. I decided I would do a post about myself though I am not the type to like to write about myself. I would much rather write about others or music. I hope you guys enjoy!
I was recently introduced by to the band Sea Girls thanks to Spotify. Bless Spotify discover playlists, whoever makes them needs a raise. I thought I would do a quick appreciation/ discover post on Sea Girls. This post is for those looking for a new band to add to their playlists.
Who are Sea Girls?
Sea Girls is a fresh new alternative/indie band from London. Sea Girls just released their EP album on June 8 called Call Me Out. It consists of four tracks called “Call Me Out”, “Favourite Colour”, “What You East” and “Daisy Daisy.”
Their sound is just the perfect mixture of indie and pop. They have a similar sound to Sundara Karama or the Wombats. However, they sound unique in their unique way with their simple lyrics describing love to changing over time. Sea Girls’ songs are the type of music you have blasting in a car ride through the city in early morning coming back from the bars. Or you can hear this sitting under a tree sipping coffee at your local coffee shop. (If your coffee shop has outdoor sitting)
Sea Girls have all the tools to make it to mainstream music. They have the great vocals, looks and feels. Sea Girls could easily become one of those must see bands live. Check out their performance on Sofar London where you can see their skills at play.
These are my overall thoughts on Sea Girls.
I cannot wait to hear their future albums and eventually I cannot wait to see them come to the United States and rock some venues here. My favorite things about them their relatable lyrics. I could see part of myself in their lyrics. My favorite tracks out of their ep are all the songs, but I connect to “Call Me Out” and “Favourite Colour” just a little more.
Tell me what you guys think of Sea Girls or if you have any new artist recommendations.
