5 Reasons to Give BTS a Chance

You know BTS right? Those guys you see all over social media but never bothered to Google them. Or that K-pop boy band that recently won a Billboard and now every social media account is making an article about them.

However you know them, they are BTS also known as Bulletproof Boy Scouts or even more Recently Beyond the Scene. They are a South Korean boy band composed of seven members: Rapmonster, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. They are making sure the world knows about K-pop.

I came across K-pop, in general, the most random way. One day I was studying with a friend on campus, and I noticed she was able to listen to music and study at the same time. I for one cannot study and listen to music with lyrics because I would end up writing the lyrics instead of what I was supposed to write. I told her I was impressed, and she said she would listen to K-pop because she did not know the words and was an excellent way to make studying even better. To be honest, I laughed, but after trying to concentrate one night, I gave it a go. Let me tell you I regret laughing that day.

1. BTS is multi talented.

BTS is the full package. They can sing, rap, produce, play instruments and dance! Not to mention their killer fashion and looks.

2. BTS music is the right amount of everything.

One of the main reasons I started to listen to BTS songs more especially when studying was their up beat tempos. Later on, I would notice myself humming along to the song. BTS knows how to appeal to the international audiences by incorporating English enough to get some people singing along.

3. BTS choreography is on a different level.

How can you not appreciate their fancy foot work and their blood sweat and tears? (Haha see what I did there) Someone give their choreographer a raise.

4. BTS music videos put people to shame.

Let’s take a moment and appreciate BTS’s music videos because they are amazing. Not only their music video concepts but their visuals. I appreciate how every videos aesthetic complements the song. For example, the song “Save Me” is a little bit more a sad EDM song and their music video tended to be less colorful compared their other videos. You have the cloudy skies and the bare landscape that make you feel more emotional.

5. BTS stay true to themselves, their fans and their message.

One thing that I noticed was that no matter how many comebacks and hair colors BTS goes through they stay true to themselves. BTS remains humble and close to their fans. I think that is one thing you don’t see every much with artists anymore. One of my favorite thing about them is that even take time to read the personally written letters given to them from their fans. And even write back to their fans! During this comeback, this time around their message is “Love Yourself.” I think this message is great especially for their fans to know and understand. Let’s not forget Namjoons speech during the Billboards

“Please ARMY, remember what we say, love myself, love yourself. that we say “

I cannot wait to see BTS succeed even more and I want to see them perform like at Billboards or even the Grammy’s

So let’s keep those figures crossed.

Three Reasons Why You Should Watch Logic’s ‘1-800-273-8255’ with Alessia Cara & Khalid

Logic recently dropped his music video for his song “1-800-273-8255” with Alessa Cara & Khalid. The music video for “1-800-273-8255” became instant trending topic all over social media. The music video follows one of the millions of lives who have considered taking their lives.  I hate seeing the horrific comments on Youtube regarding the music video I thought I would talk about why it is important to watch the music video.

1. “1-800-273-8255” tries to help people to know that they are not alone and there is help out.

If you did not know already, but “1-800-273-8255” is the actual phone number to the suicide prevention hotline. The lyrics of this song try to resonate with the listener in hopes to let them know that there are people out there who care about them. In an interview with Genius, Logic himself even talks about how he was inspired to write this “1-800-273-8255” by his fans who would come to him and tell him that his music saved them from committing suicide. He said he would use his music to save even more people.

 2. “1-800-273-8255” does not glorify but rather brings awareness.

This music video brings awareness to the reality that is suicide. It does not glorify the act but rather brings awareness and how we can change it. Even a small act can come a long way. How many of us seeing this music video could see ourselves stepping up and stopping the bullying.  We need to understand that anyone could be feeling this way and we might not even know it.

 3. “1-800-273-8255” covers a topic everyone ignores.

In society today we tend to stay away from the subject of suicide. No one wants to talk about suicide even after the show “Thirteen Reasons Why.” Our society is so programmed to steer clear of any conversation contain suicide. We need to remember that suicide is a real thing and not a myth. Some people feel so alone in society today even with us being so connected with social media. I hate seeing disgusting comments about this music video and its message. We need to remember that everyone is a human being with feelings and everyone should be loved and treated equally.

Catfish and The Bottlemen & Green Day Take Nebraska

Three Catfish and the Bottlemen concerts in three different states later.

And your girl finally got to see Catfish and the Bottlemen in Nebraska! Catfish and the Bottlemen opened for Green Day at the Century Link. Both bands were absolutely everything.

Catfish and the Bottlemen opened the night out with “Cocoon.” Sure there were very little who knew people who knew the lyrics to their songs. (Of course, I was that one girl singing and dancing like there was no tomorrow) Highnote was that by the end of the couple songs Catfish and the Bottlemen had them all shaking their heads to the beat. Oh, the magic of great music and performers.

The only low key about Catfish and the Bottlemen’s performance was that their stage time was way too short. I think some people drove longer to get the venue than Catfish and the Bottlemen’s performance. They performed their singles from The Baloncy and their new singles from The Ride. I eternally feel sorry for all those who decided to skip the opening act. You missed out on a life time experience.

After Catfish and the Bottlemen stealing dozens of hearts from the crowd, Green Day came on stage.  I had never seen Green Day live until that day. Their performance was breathtaking. Not mention what other concert do you get sprayed with water from the main vocalist and get feed water when you started to get thirsty but you didn’t want to lose your spot.

One of my favorite aspect of the Green Day was their crowd interaction. They knew how to make us feel involved. There were multiple times when Billie took fans on stage to sing the lyrics of their songs. To top that Billie let two lucky fans play their guitars. However, I believe the real winner was a luck twelve-year-old boy who got to keep one of Green Day’s guitar.

At the end of the night, your voice was sore from sing along to the classics that you grew up listening to or head banging every song from both bands. I will recommend anyone see Catfish and the Bottlemen if they get the chance. Even more, recommend seeing Green Day because they are just one of those performers to put on your bucket lists.

Get sun-kissed by my July and August playlist.

Summer is finally coming to a close. Don’t get me wrong I like summer because it is socially acceptable to drink iced coffee. However, I prefer changing and chilly weather that makes me want to buy a cinnamon apple candle. Since summer still isn’t quite gone yet, I thought I would shamelessly share my playlist for July and August playlist.

I call my July and August playlist “sun-kissed.”

My July and August playlist consists of a variety of different genres from my typical taste. This summer we got not only great singles but also amazing albums that are sure to win a couple of Grammy’s. My playlist this month ranges from Haim, Lana Del Rey to Blossoms.

The first artist on my July and August playlist I cannot stop obsessing is Selena Gomez’s two single “Fetish” and “Bad Liar.” I love her doing more mature and less teen poppy songs. I am kinda obsessed with her “Fetish” music video that leaves you somehow visually satisfied.

Another artist that I have recently discovered is Dua Lipa and boy has she been rocking the world.  Her single “New Rule” is an anthem that girls can sing when they want to get back with a guy that did them wrong. Not to mention her voice is beautiful.

Tora has also made it on my July and August playlist. I discovered them from Local Wolves magazine. Their song “Jaigantic (Galimatias Remix)” is so great. I love their sound and simple lyrics. I hope to do an upcoming review of them or their album later on this month.

These are just a couple of the few artists and songs that have made it to my July and August playlist so far. I will keep adding more songs through out the month of August. Comment below your go to songs so far this month and make sure to follow my playlists!

I had meant to write this post for quite some time but this week has not been my week. For example, right at this moment, I have a fever and an ear infection, but nothing is stopping me from doing what I like. One of the bloggers I follow Welcometorealiti nominated for Mystery blogger award. I came across this blog after reading a couple of his short stories and finding out our same music taste. I am not sure how it works, but I was beyond honored. I was asked to answer some questions for the nominees so here are my honest answers. Also, make sure to check out Welcometorealiti ‘s blog.

Five questions for the nominees were:

  1. Who inspires you most to keep doing what you do? My inspiration to keep doing what I do is everyone around me. I love to gain inspiration from other people or experiences. I believe that individuals or events come into your life for a reason, so what better way to take all this use it for your advantage. You never know how this might change or influence your future.
  2. What is your biggest regret so far? My biggest regret was not majoring in what I enjoyed from the beginning of my college years it would have saved me so many headaches and stress. My advice for anyone is doing what you like not what your parents or friends tell you because at the end of the day it will be you doing this.
  3. What do you want your blog to represent to you and others? I want my blog to reflect my creativity and inspirations. As clique as it sounds, I want to be able to inspire other.
  4. What are you most proud of so far in your life? I am pretty proud of being able to stay positive so far in my life and not let the negative affect me.
  5. What’s your favorite word? My favorite word is unorthodox. This word means contrary to what is usual, traditional or accepted. I think this describes me perfectly because my interests and outlooks are not the usual.

Thanks a million Welcometorealiti for thinking about my blog.
